Kayla Madsen

is a graduate of the University of Utah, pursuing a double major in Ballet (BFA) and Nursing (BSN). She began her dance journey at the age of two, but it wasn’t until she was 13 that she truly committed to ballet. Kayla has always found great joy in performing, both on stage and in the studio, where she strives to connect with her audience and peers. Over the years, she has had the privilege of dancing professionally with the University of Utah and been a part of their many main stage productions, as well as dancing with companies such as Collage Dance Collective and Ballet Next. Some of her most cherished roles include being a Shade in La Bayadere, the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, and the Snow Queen in The Nutcracker. Kayla attended a performing arts high school, where she honed her skills in various dance techniques beyond ballet and earned the prestigious Sterling Scholar award for dance. She has competed in Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), placing at several regional competitions and advancing to the national level. Kayla’s training also includes attending various summer intensives, most recently with Oklahoma City Ballet, the University of Utah, and Kansas City Ballet. Her time at the University of Utah has been transformative, both as a dancer and a professional, allowing her to work with world-renowned choreographers and restagers. She feels well-prepared for what the professional dance world has in store and can’t wait to continue sharing her love for ballet with all audiences.
