Join NWA Ballet Theatre Artistic Director Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye, alongside former Hubbard Street dancer Stephanie Martinez, as they present three original works.

What you think you know of Beethoven and everything you don’t, brought to life in a bold mix of classical and contemporary dance. Immortal Beloved: Possessed by Genius is the next dynamic creation from NWA Ballet Theatre and its premier professional dancers, depicting the story of Ludwig van Beethoven’s genius, turmoil and muses through a moving portrait of dance.

This masterful mix highlights the passionate vision of NWA Ballet Theatre Artistic Director Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye, alongside
international choreographic sensation Stephanie Martinez, and an amazing roster of 24 artists.

Some thoughts from Stephanie Martinez:

This work is loosely based off of “The Old Guitarist” by Picasso. Some think its an autobiographical painting of himself.. What if he came out of the photo?

The realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own. Populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines worries and inherited craziness..

A story about lives we never knew existed which we might appear only once.

Now a Northwest Arkansas holiday tradition, the Northwest Arkansas Conservatory of Classical Ballet and NWA Ballet Theatre Artistic Director Ryan Jolicoeur- Nye reimagine the Tchaikovsky classic cast with 178 regional dance students.  Also new to the 2019 Nutcracker, a third show: Friday 12/6 at 7:00pm, Saturday 12/7 at 7:00pm, and Sunday 12/8 at 2:00pm. NWA Ballet Theatre’s world premiere of this classic fairytale is guaranteed to be a colorful, magical experience, following Cinderella as she is whisked away from her wicked step-mother and placed into the arms of her true love and Prince.  Composed by Sergei Prokofiev and first performed at the Bolshoi Theatre in 1945, Cinderella is known for its exultant music, luxurious scenery, and for the comic relief role of the step-sisters.  Perfect entertainment for the entire family!

Dance BEAT

Dance Beat - takes dance outside the theater and invites community to experience dance as public art. Approachable, free, pop-up, public art performances, will occur in some of Northwest Arkansas’ countless scenic urban and outdoor spaces. Full schedule to be listed soon.
